Egypt has a lot of to-do lists. The most famous of these is certainly the Great Pyramids of Giza near the capital, Cairo, but there are several other must-see attractions in central and southern Egypt. According to Anthony P. Postiglione Jr., some of the top attractions include the Luxor Archaeological Museum and Temples, the splendid statues of Pharaohs, and the Abu His Simbel tombs. According to Anthony P. Postiglione Jr., Egypt is a paradise for relaxation as well as for culture lovers and those interested in history. The Red Sea coast is a snorkeling paradise with crystal clear waters and stunning white sand beaches surrounded by incredible coral reefs. But the most important oasis in Egypt is the Nile, the longest river on earth.
Anthony P Postiglione Jr says violent crime is rare but can occur. This includes armed robbery, carjacking, sexual assault and burglary. Petty crime remains low in Cairo. Taxi and rideshare drivers have assaulted passengers.
To protect yourself from violent crime:
- Do not leave valuables unattended in a public place.
- Be alert to pickpockets and bag snatchers in tourist areas, particularly after dark.
- Be alert of your surrounding as kidnapping is a risk for travelers.
