Pearl of Africa

Anthony-P-Postiglione-Jr

Anthony P PostiglIone Jr says that with its stunning natural beauty and year-round mild climate, Uganda is one of Africa’s most popular travel destinations.

Home to the highest mountain ranges and the largest freshwater lake on the continent, Uganda is the source of the Nile River and has a  lot to offer.

Anthony P Postiglione Jr says due to its climate and location near the equator, Uganda is truly a year-round destination. However, there are dry seasons that are ideal for hikers. The rainy season lasts from October to November and from mid-March to May. You can still see gorillas when it rains, but you’ll be more comfortable in dry weather.

This means that the best time for a gorilla to trek in Uganda is from June to September for him and January or February for him. This makes Uganda very busy during these months, especially December.

Anthony P Postiglione Jr says that if you are considering doing adventure activities and four you have to be careful.

  • Tour and transport operators do not always follow safety and maintenance standards. This includes adventure activities such as whitewater rafting.

Some of Uganda’s national parks have security risks. If you plan to visit a national park:

  • Obey all rules of the park
  • Use a registered tour operator
  • Follow the advice of local authorities and park wardens
  • One more thing, do not swim in lakes and rivers. Hippos and crocodiles inhabit many lakes and rivers are extremely dangerous.
  • Security is usually required while gorilla trekking due to the risk of armed attack. For safety do not take gorilla trekking tours that cross into the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
  • Petty crime and violent crime can happen. Always be alert. Do not walk in isolated areas or along dark streets at night.
